Homework Dubstep Mixer

Scene veterans take us to school.

Two of dubstep’s most venerable stalwarts, DJ Hatcha and Hyperdub boss Kode9 (pictured), went back-to-back on Kiss FM last week to take listeners through the history of the genre.

Touching on now-classic cuts from Skream, Mala, Loefah, Coki and the like, the 50-minute mix could be considered homework for the legions of dubstep fans around the world who’ve never been within a hundred miles of Croydon town centre.

Also note the introduction which describes Kode9 as “aka Steve Goodman, alias Burial”. We thought it was JK Rowling? [Hat tip to RBMA for the link]

"I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring."

Today we have to bring you some sad news. After ten amazing years together we have decided to stop. As of next year Homework will be no more. It's been one heck of a rollercoaster with releases on some top labels, shows in awesome clubs like Berghain/PanoramaBar, ageHa, Studio 80, Le Bain at The Standard, High Line (just to name a few) and adventurous tours through Europe, Australia, Asia and USA. We ...sincerely thank you for all your support through the years. Our fans and friends, the promoters, our agents, fellow artists, you have all been so great to us! You didn't make this an easy decision to make.

Homework may cease to exist, but we are alive and kicking and will be pursuing music careers as solo artists. Tom continuing as Tom Waist. Zip working on his Zip Løi project. We both hope you will continue to follow our work, because we are very excited about what the future will bring. We leave this project with a lot of positive energy and are actually still available for bookings until March next year. If you want to have us over for one last time do get in touch with our agent(s).

Lots of love and see you around the bend,
Tom & Zip
